PRO'S CORNER: CAG ONE PROFILING
Binnie’s Skate Sharpening & Equipment Repair offers a wide variety of services for all hockey players and referees. One of the most common services, other than skate sharpening, is profiling.
As we’ve covered in Pro’s Corner before, a profile (also known as a contour, radius or a rocker) is the curve of the blade from front to back. Having a consistent profile tailored to your skating style will help with balance, turning, gliding, stopping, and acceleration.
What is a Cag One profile?
A Cag One profile is a digital profile that considers physiology and physics to produces a consistent contour grind on any blade, depending on the setting, while enhancing performance and energy transfer. What makes a Cag One profile different from a traditional bar contour is the flat spot in the profile. This flat spot helps to generate and retain speed, much in the same way a speed skate is designed. While a hockey skate can’t be as flat as a speed skate, a slight modification to the contour can create the feel of a tight profile while still maintaining more ice contact like a longer profile. With a Cag One you can also adjust the balance point forward or backward just like a normal profile.
A Cag One profile really is the perfect balance of speed and agility, which is why more NHL players use a Cag One profile than any other profile system.
